Simplify the Delivery of Online Learning

We at eLearn Campus constantly come across people who want to start some sort of online training program but never get going because of what they see as the technological and cost hurdles. Whether we are speaking to a representative of a commercial enterprise, a not-for-profit, or an educational institution, the challenge is the same: they need technology to do eLearning. And they see eLearning technology (for instance Learning Management Systems or customized eLearning sites) as prohibitively expensive and excessively complex, which raises administration costs. Faced with the array of eLearning technology choices, many people just give up and forget about the idea of doing eLearning.

So at eLearn Campus we decided to help organizations by developing our own simple technology for hosting online learning resources and we called the result FireFly. Our design strips down eLearning to three basic functions:

ENCON Group Inc. is a large commercial insurance company. A large part of its business relates to insuring building professionals, such as architects and engineers. If these professions do not maintain the best practices in risk management, ENCON realizes higher claims due to various forms of commercial liability issues.

It made perfect business sense for ENCON to spearhead improvements in building professional practices through training. But ENCON is not in the training business, it’s in the insurance business. So it made no sense for ENCON to incur the huge costs and time commitments associated with a typical Learning Management System.

FireFly gave ENCON a simple way of reaching its geographically dispersed clients through online learning. The end goal: better trained professionals and fewer professional liability claims.
