We started eLearn Campus in 2004 with a simple
idea: help people do excellent eLearning by focusing on managerial
competencies. In the last three years, our challenge has been
to deliver to this mission through a variety of formats. We
started by helping people design and develop eLearning. Yet we
always saw our mission primarily in terms of education and
competency development. So while we still help people through
design and
development services (i.e. they “insource” our managerial
competency) we still see our main mission as educating people to do
excellent eLearning on their own account.
We always stress that the best eLearning is that
which is customized to specific organizational circumstances.
This is why we introduced our
Certificate
in eLearning Management program in 2004. We saw the first
challenge to simply develop the managerial competency of people to
deliver eLearning. The Certificate is a rigorous program of
competency development that has been
recognized
at the University level. The Certificate program is of
particular relevance to people who see a longer term future in
eLearning management.
But we have observed that the great majority of
people are at a very early stage of development. They don’t
really know if they want to commit to competency development before
they figure out what they are going to do. As such, in 2006,
we introduced a bi-weekly series of
complimentary
webinars. These webinars help people understand strategic
issues. We have had about one thousand training and
development professionals from around the world attend our
webinars.
But attendees are asking us for greater
specificity, depth and interaction than is possible in a 45 minute
webinar. We are in the process of developing new products that
will respond to these needs. We already introduced a
Strategy
Roadmap product, which is a type of customized face-to-face
workshop. But in 2007, we will introduce other products that
are consistent with our mission to help people to do excellent
eLearning.
I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone
a very Happy New Year and we look forward to continuing to engage
with our loyal audience in 2007.
